28 deads, nearly 5 lakh people affected in India's Assam floods


A damaged road due to flooding after heavy rains at Borkula village in Nagaon District of Assam ,india on May 26,2022 . The flood situation in Assam remained grim . The disaster has now claimed 28 lives and has affected more than 5.8 lakh people in 18 different districts as of Thursday, 26 May. According to the daily flood report issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA)more than 5,75,400 people are hit due to the flood in Cachar, Darrang, Dima Hasao, Hojai, Kamrup, Karbi Anglong West, Karimganj, Morigaon and Nagaon districts. Nagaon is the worst affected with over 3.64 lakh people suffering, followed by Cachar (1.63 lakh) and Morigaon (41,000).
