Two powerful earthquakes struck southeastern Turkey on the border with Syria on February 6, resulting in a confirmed death toll of at least 47,975 people, as reported by Yunus Sezer, the head of the Coordination Center of the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD). The official also stated that out of the deceased, 6,278 were foreign nationals.
