Macron welcomed Poland PM Duda and German Chancellor Scholz

The President of the French Republic welcomed Mr Andrzej DUDA, President of the Republic of Poland, and Mr Olaf SCHOLZ, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, to the Palais de l'Elysée on Monday 12 June 2023 for a Weimar Triangle Summit. The President of the Republic first held bilateral talks with Mr Andrzej DUDA, President of the Republic of Poland, at the Elysée Palace. The Weimar Triangle Summit has then taken the form of a working dinner. The last meeting in this format was held on 19 February 2023, in Germany, on the occasion of the Munich Security Conference. Together, the three leaders discussed the need for European coordination of military assistance to Ukraine to enable it to carry out its counter-offensive, as well as humanitarian assistance, particularly following the attack on the Kakhovka dam. They have also discussed the security guarantees that can be provided to Ukraine over the long term, in order to guarantee its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Lastly, this exchange enabled them to work together to prepare for upcoming European and international events: the European Council on 29 and 30 June and the NATO Summit in Vilnius on 11 and 12 July 2023.
