A Bridge On Top of Residential Buildings In Nanning, China

The Shuikousi Bridge crosses over the top of more than 10 residential buildings in Guiyang, Guizhou province, Nov. 12, 2019. The bottom of the bridge is attached to the top of the residential buildings. The apartment under the bridge is very depressed. More than 10 residential buildings are lined up under the 300-meter-long bridge. And the roof of every house, almost has been up to the deck. All the houses were built close to the height of the bridge, and the piers were hidden against the walls of the houses. Houses also shake with the bridge every time heavy vehicles pass by, and are disturbed by the loud vibration and noise of the traffic on the bridge. In the 1990s, the Shuikousi Bridge was built for the construction of the airport expressway. As compensation, the open space under the bridge will be used for the construction of residential buildings, to solve the demolition of resettlement housing and low-rent housing for poor families. In May 1997, the bridge was completed, and in 1999, the residential buildings were completed and the residents gradually moved in, beginning their nearly 20-year life under the bridge with the roar of cars and the shaking of the floors. Under the bridge, not only the residents live, but also all kinds of shops are operating, the life under the bridge is very rich. Under the bridge, residents have experienced a long time of noise pollution and trouble, even sleep is not restful. The people who live here are more anxious and uneasy than those who live elsewhere.
