Andromeda Galaxy Shines Overhead This Week

(FILE VIDEO) This week, as the luminous moon exits our evening sky, you will also get an opportunity to witness this incredibly fascinating celestial object of the deep sky. It will traverse nearly directly above, spanning the time frame from 7:30 to 8 p.m. in your local time. The Andromeda Galaxy, also known as M31, is the closest spiral galaxy to the Milky Way. With a diameter of approximately 220,000 light-years, it is expected to collide with our galaxy in the distant future, forming a new cosmic entity. Home to billions of stars, Andromeda is a prominent feature in the night sky, visible to the naked eye from Earth.
