Slow and proximity tourism post Covid 19 in the villages of Abruzzo

Tourists from all over Italy visit palaces, churches and monuments reopened to the public for the first time after the Coronavirus emergency in Navelli, Italy, on June 21, 2020. In the saffron territory, as in other villages in the interior of Abruzzo, the tourist recovery and a safe reception are being considered. "Here in Navelli, in the province of L'Aquila, in Abruzzo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, we decided to host an opening Sunday of churches and palaces to open the doors and show the beauty of our territory" says Massimiliano D'Innocenzo, tourist promoter and resident of Navelli "There are many tourists in our area who, due to the Covid emergency, wanted to rediscover the beauty that is close to them". Many tourists from Rome often take a quick trip to these territories. "A tourism like this is possible" says Paolo Federico, Mayor of Navelli "There are open spaces, you just need to wear a mask and respect the hygiene rules". Some of the structures that can be visited in the towns of Navelli and Civitaretenga were also affected by the post-earthquake adaptation and reconstruction works.
