Sushi chef turned traveler

Takashi is 40 years old man from Okinawa, Japan. A year ago, he was sushi chef in his home town. Now he plays sanshi – traditional Okinawa instrument on the streets of Varna, Bulgaria, more than 15 000 km away from home. Last year, after he and his wife were divorced, Takashi decided to make time for things he always wanted to do – travel the world, meet new people and share with them some traditional Japanese values – like cherishing our nature, our languages and each other. He travels mostly by bike. Sometimes uses trains or ferries, but never planes – they are not ecologically friendly but also, he just does not like the feeling. Takashi departed from Japan with only 1000 dollars in his pocket and since then he has been playing music to earn some money. People everywhere he has been to – Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, Greece and Bulgaria seem to enjoy the traditional Okinawa songs he sings and the positive energy that radiates from him. Takashi says that people in Bulgaria have been very welcoming. He has been here for 5 months now and during Coronavirus lockdown. Now he wants to continue his journey to Romania, some other Balkan countries and if possible Western Europe and even the USA. The dreams when he returns home to be able to share his experiences with as many people as possible. And he already does – on the social medias, Varna, Bulgaria on July 09, 2020
