Museum of the internment of Padua

The National Museum of Internment, adjacent to the National Temple of the Unknown Internation, was inaugurated on 19 September 1965 by Cardinal Giuseppe Beran, Archbishop of Prague, a former deportee, and by the Minister of the Italian Republic Luigi Gui, a former partisan. However, the first nucleus of the Museum, promoted and built by the former I.M.I., dates back to 1953. The National Association of former internees (ANEI) wanted to create the Historical Museum of Internment, entrusting it to the management of the Provincial Federation of Padua, so that the younger generations could make use of documentary evidence on the fate of Italians (military internees, political and racial deportees) imprisoned in the Nazi concentration camps.
