The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has ordered to cancel the public celebrations for the Chinese Lunar New Year at the city's famed Chinatown to prevent the further spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus omicron variant but allowing people to attend rituals and traditions under health measures. The Chinese lunar new year, or Spring Festival, will fall on 01 February 2022 and heralds the start of the Year of the Tiger.
