Several hundred soldiers have arrived in the previous week at the small, local airport in Rzeszow, Poland. At least a hundred additional troops arrived on 16 February, 2022 with equipment. Soldiers and equipment are flown from the United States in C-17 Globemaster cargo airplanes directly to Poland in support of NATO allies amid the threat of an attack on Ukraine by Russia.
