For nearly a week refugees from all regions of Ukraine have been seeking refuge in Poland often arriving in cities just over the border in Poland. In Przemysl some 12 thousand refugees have already arrived and the city has set up a welcome centre in the main train station. Every day several trains arrive with Ukrainians who have either been directly affected by the Russian invasion or decided to leave following what they have heard on the news. The local community has organised a large scale donation campaign with collections being taken at the central train station. Food, water, and even sanitary supplies have been donated in large numbers for the Ukrainian who mostly came to Poland with only a small suitcase or two.
