The sale of patriotically themed paraphernalia has hugely increased in popularity since the Russian invasion into Ukraine on February 24, 2022. People in Lviv are seen shopping for patriotically themed clothing and other items that carry traditional, Ukrainian symbols and colors. Not only t-shirts, mugs and hats with Ukrainian flags and other symbols are popular but also Ukrainian folkloric clothing such as the vyshyvankas, embroidered shirts specific to the region. Another popular piece of patriotic merchandise are t-shirts and other paraphernalia with a Ukrainian soldier looking at a sinking Russian naval ship, an image representing Ukrainian defiance popularised by the sinking of the Russian Moskva naval vessel in the Black Sea.
