The Hanoi Metro in Vietnam's capital city opened service on its first line 6 November 2021. This is the country's first rapid transit system, and consists of one elevated line that runs for 13.1 km, with 12 stations connecting the districts of Dong Da, Thanh Xuan and Ha Dong in Hanoi. The Vietnamese government has plans to eventually expand the transit system to include 8 lines with a total length of 318 kilometres.
