Laurent Berger, secretary general of the CFDT, addressing the press at the Elysée Palace, at the end of the CNR, National Council of Refoundation, in Paris, 12 December 2022. SOT: If it is a pause made to lay new foundations for the debate, we have proposals: we did not agree on the measures concerning hard work, on senior citizens' work, not even on long careers, the same with basic pensions. So if this postponement makes it possible to lay new foundations for the debate - which I doubt - the CFDT is clear: we will continue to make proposals. And above all, on the postponement of the legal retirement age, the CFDT is against it on 12 December and will also be against it on 10 January. We shall see. For now, there is nothing to sign. But let's be clear: I understand well that the government repeats that there are unions that are better to discuss with. Please note: the CFDT has been working with the government for months on different aspects of the reform, but we oppose the shift in the legal retirement age. We are against moving to 64/65 today and we will be against it on 10 January.
