Kashmiri Shia Muslims light candles and pray on the graves of their relatives marking Shab e Baraat in Srinagar. Shab-e-baraat is a festival observed by Muslims between 14th and 15th night of 8th Islamic Month Sha'aban, who pray all night with the belief that God will decide everyone's fortune on this night. Additionally, Twelver Shia Muslims commemorate the birthday of 12th Imam Muhammad al-Mahdi on this date.
