Craftsmen use peeled willow twigs to produce hand crafted items at their workplace in Ganderbal. Willow wicker craft, also known as Keani Keam locally, is a hand-crafted art form from Kashmir that involves weaving with willow reeds. For both domestic and international markets, a vast variety of products are produced using this technique. The benefit of using willow over bamboo or cane is that it is more durable and resistant to insects. Almost 5,000 people are employed in this craft across the state.
