Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki spoke to supporters in an unexpected appearance on 09 October, 2023. Morawiecki spoke to supporters outside the televisions studios where the election candidates debate took place on Monday without any accredited media. To supporters he said they will be protected from rape and burning cars like in Sweden, a statement referring to incidents in other EU member states where incidents involving crimes committed by non-citizens took place. Morawiecki's Law and Justice party has long campaigned on xenophobic rhetoric and populist, nationalist sentiments.
