Buddhist Lent is a rainy season retreat that lasts three months, in which Buddhist monks must remain in one temple, refraining from travel, to guard from the rainy season. Awk Phansa marks the end of the Buddhist Lent, and Monks then are able to travel and resume their regular Buddhist duties.
