In anticipation of the 2024 U.S. elections, an Illinois judge has decided to exclude Donald Trump from the competition for the Republican primary in this state due to his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection. However, the judge has delayed the implementation of his ruling in light of an expected appeal from the former American president. Illinois is now the third state from which Trump has been excluded, following Colorado and Maine.
