Heavy rains and floods kill dozens in Pakistan's southwest

In Nowshera District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan, on April 16, 2024, people are wading through a flooded street following heavy rain. The southwest region of Pakistan is currently experiencing heavy rainfall, which has resulted in at least 39 reported deaths. The victims include farmers who were struck by lightning while working in wheat fields, according to authorities. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provincial disaster management authority reports that 32 others have been injured in the past four days due to lightning strikes and incidents related to the torrential rains affecting several provinces. Pakistan is currently among the world's top 10 countries most affected by climate change.
