Child Labour in Dhaka

Eight-year-old Bablu is currently working at a tannery to earn one dollar a day in a low-income area in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on May 8, 2024. Despite the labor law in Bangladesh stating that the minimum age for employment is 14 years, enforcing such laws is proving to be virtually impossible in the country. This is because most child laborers are currently being employed in informal sectors such as small factories, workshops, street vending, home-based businesses, and domestic work.
