An official is holding a macaque monkey before a health check at the monkey field hospital in Lopburi province, north of Bangkok. After catching the Lopburi monkeys in a cage, the staff is anesthetizing the unsterilized monkeys to undergo the sterilization process. The monkeys are being checked for diseases, including skin diseases and wounds, and blood is being collected to test for diseases transmitted to humans, such as malaria, by the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health. Once the history of the monkeys is complete, they are recuperating and being released into the cages at the Bodhi Kao Ton Monkey Park. Before moving the monkeys, the staff is observing their behavior to see if the monkeys accept each other. Those that don't get along are being separated to prevent harm.
