The process of painting an eye is known as the ritual of "Chokhhu Daan " or giving eye to the goddess. It is one of the most important ritual in the process of idol making of any hindu goddess , especially Maa Durga. It is usually done on the day of Mahalaya,but nowadays due to time crunch and deadlines of delivering finished idols to Pandals ,artisan performs this ritual before the desire date of mahalaya.
