A BYD Flagship Store in Yancheng, China - 06/15/2024

New energy, gasoline and hybrid vehicles are displayed at a BYD flagship store in Yancheng city, Jiangsu province, China, June 15, 2024. Driven by BYD and growth in emerging markets, Chinese car companies sold more cars than their US counterparts for the first time last year, research firm Jato Dynamics said in a report released on Thursday. Chinese auto brands led by Shenzhen-based BYD sold a total of 13.4 million new vehicles in 2023, while U.S. brands sold about 11.9 million, the data showed. Japanese brands led the way with 23.59 million sales. China's auto sales growth also outpaced that of the United States, rising 23 percent from the previous year, compared with 9 percent in the United States.
