Pakistan's main opposition party supporters stage nationwide protest for Khan's release

Supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party are holding portraits of the party's founder and jailed former prime minister Imran Khan, as they shout slogans during a protest to demand his release, in Peshawar, Pakistan, on July 26, 2024. PTI lawmakers in the National Assembly, the lower house of Pakistan's parliament, led by opposition leader Omar Ayub, are launching a hunger strike camp outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, to demand the release of the party's founder Imran Khan. Their hunger strike is also addressing the arrests of the party's social media activists and the rising inflation. Pakistan's main opposition party PTI is saying on social media platform X that the party's foreign media coordinator and several social media activists are being 'abducted' and have 'disappeared.'
