Protest in Pakistan-administered Kashmir against India's stripping of Kashmir's special status

Kashmiri demonstrators are shouting anti-India slogans, waving flags, and displaying a banner during a protest marking the fifth anniversary of Indian-administered Kashmir's special status abrogation, in Peshawar, capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir, on August 5, 2024. People are rallying in Pakistan-administered Kashmir to protest India's 2019 revocation of Jammu and Kashmir's special autonomous status. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is calling for a plebiscite in the Indian-administered Kashmir to prove 'India's democratic claims', while Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is urging the international community to address human rights violations and support Kashmir's 'right to self-determination'. India repealed Article 370 of the Indian constitution that granted a special semi-autonomous status to Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019, and separated the area into two union territories - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
