The protest is taking over every nook and corner of Kolkata and West Bengal at midnight on the eve of Indian Independence Day in Kolkata, India, on August 14, 2024. A 31-year-old lady junior doctor was raped and murdered during her night duty at R G Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9, 2024. A nationwide protest of the doctors and women is going on since the incident happened. The Supreme Court of India is taking suo motu cognizance, with Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud leading the bench to hear the case on August 20, 2024.
