Annual inflation in the euro area decreased to 1.8% in September, down from 2.2% in August, according to a preliminary report by Eurostat. The consumer price index (CPI) also fell by 0.1% in September from the previous month. However, core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, slightly decreased from 2.8% to 2.7%, while showing a 0.1% increase on a monthly basis.
