The IMD is issuing an alert for heavy to very heavy rain in Kolkata, North 24 Parganas, Howrah, Hooghly, and Jhargram until Friday, while heavy rain may continue until Saturday in Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, and South 24 Parganas. Many parts of Kolkata are under water due to these effects, according to reports.
