Canis aureus in India - Golden Jackal

The golden jackal (Canis aureus) is a wolf-like canid that is native to Eurasia. The golden jackal, the largest of the jackals, resembles a small wolf but with a comparatively more slender build, shorter legs, and a shorter tail. Lack of food and shelter, and the pressure of urbanization are reducing jackals' habitat. An omnivore is an organism that eats a variety of other organisms, including plants, animals, and fungi. Golden jackals are coming from the jungle and resting beside a house, where forest trees are being cut down (deforestation) and plastic packets are scattered around. Suddenly, a jackal is warning another resting jackal through gritted teeth in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 27, 2024.
