Vehicles are driving along an expressway during a polluted day in northern Tehran, Iran, on November 17, 2024. In order to prevent air pollution in Tehran and other major cities of Iran, the government, led by Masoud Pezeshkian, is implementing an electricity cut-off program at the beginning of the cold season. This is due to rising gas consumption in the household sector, limited gas fuel supply to power plants, and the prohibition of using fuel oil in some power plants.
