A joint operation has been launched by specialised teams from the Army, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to rescue the nine workers are trapped inside a 'rat hole' coal mine after water gushed into the 300-foot-deep quarry in Umrangso , Dima Hasao District of Assam, India on Jan 7 ,2025 . The mine, located in the 3 Kilo area of Umrangso, is approximately 300 feet deep, with water levels rising up to 100 feet due to the inundation.
