The large conehead (Ruspolia nitidula) is a bush cricket species belonging to the subfamily Conocephalinae within the family Tettigoniidae. This species can be found across Europe, Africa, and the Palearctic region of Asia. Although it is sometimes referred to as the "cone-headed grasshopper" in casual contexts, it is not a grasshopper but rather a bush cricket. In Uganda, this species is commonly consumed, and its sale generates significant income. This bush cricket is mostly found green in color; however, this one is rare brown and is being held on a hand. It is unable to fly due to illness, observed in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on December 20, 2024.
