Rosa Flower - Monthly Rose - 02/19/2025

Rosa chinensis ‘Old Blush’, or the Monthly Rose, is a beloved cultivar known for its continuous pink blooms. This semi-double rose is hardy and has charmed gardeners for centuries. Native to China, it has been cultivated since the 18th century and was introduced to Europe in 1752. As an heirloom rose, it belongs to the Rosaceae family, which includes various fruits like peaches and cherries. A Marmalade Hoverfly (Episyrphus balteatus) and Sweat bees (Halictidae) are sitting on Rosa chinensis ‘Old Blush' or Monthly Rose flower and eating nectar, with pollen stuck to its body and eyes on the day of Valentine's Day, in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on 14/02/2024.
