Bengal dessert - Moog puli - Fried puli
This video is showing the preparation of "Moog puli," also known as "bhaja puli" or "moog shamli" or "Bhaja Pithe," a Bengali sweet dish. It is made with a filling of mawa or khoya, which is a milk solid created by curdling milk and draining it with sugar. Moog puli is a pastry made from mung lentils, stuffed with a sweet filling—typically khoya—then deep-fried and coated in syrup. The result is a light, crisp treat with a delightful salty-sweet flavor. While a grainy sugar coating is often used, another option is to use a jaggery-based syrup. This video is being taken in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on February 14, 2023.
