Indian security forces are standing guard near the site where an unknown aircraft is crashing. India and Pakistan are engaging in intense artillery exchanges along their border, marking the deadliest confrontation between the two nuclear-armed rivals in over 20 years. The escalation is following India’s launch of Operation Sindoor, a series of missile strikes targeting locations in Pakistan’s Punjab province and the Pakistan side of Kashmir. Islamabad is reporting that the Indian attacks, along with subsequent cross-border shelling, are resulting in at least 26 civilian deaths and dozens of injuries. Meanwhile, Indian authorities are stating that retaliatory Pakistani fire is claiming the lives of at least 10 people and wounding several others on the Indian side of Kashmir. Three aircraft are reportedly crashing in India’s Jammu and Kashmir region amid escalating tensions. The Indian Army is launching “Operation Sindoor,” targeting nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.
