Ashura is an important Islamic day that falls on the 10th day of the month of Muharram, the first month of the Islamic lunar calendar. Ashura marks the death of Husayn ibn Ali, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad, in the battle of Karbala. The day is observed as the end of 10 days of mourning.
