August 1, 2025, marks 81 years since the start of the Warsaw Uprising (also known as the August Uprising), in which resistance fighters from the Home Army are launching an operation against Nazi German occupation forces near the end of World War II. The battles last 63 days and end with the defeat of the Polish army and a near-total destruction of Warsaw.
