The Oriental Psyche (Leptosia nina) is a small white butterfly belonging to the Pieridae family. It is flying low over grass due to its weak flight in the Indian Subcontinent, Southeast Asia, and Australia. This butterfly is seeking shelter under leaves during rain and heavy wind to protect its wings, particularly during the monsoon season. For example, on July 09, 2025, it is observed taking refuge under leaves in Tehatta, West Bengal, India. In addition to leaves, the butterfly is also finding shelter in tall grasses or in crevices of rocks and trees, which is similar to its roosting behavior at night. While butterflies are managing to fly in light rain, heavy rain is posing a significant challenge, as the weight of the water on their wings is making flying difficult.
