More than 300 people killed in Pakistan in heavy rains, flash floods

Local residents are gathering to watch the swollen Charsadda River flow under a bridge following heavy monsoon rainfalls on the outskirts of Peshawar, Pakistan, on August 15, 2025. The death toll from heavy monsoon rains that are triggering landslides and flash floods across northern Pakistan is rising to at least 321 people, according to the disaster authority. Most of the deaths, 307, are being recorded in the mountainous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, with another five killed in the northern region of Gilgit-Baltistan and nine in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, it says.
