25-foot-tall Radha Krishna statues (the first of their kind outside of India) are being inaugurated on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami at the Vishnu Mandir in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, on August 16, 2025. The Janmashtami festival is marking the birth of the Hindu god Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, Krishna is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, who is taking birth to kill the evil king Kansa and free the people of Mathura and other nearby towns from his cruelty.
