Weaver ants are being highly territorial and are actively defending their territories against intruding insects, including other ant species. Ants are attacking other ants, often engaging in fierce battles for resources like food, nesting sites, and territory. They are often employing group attacks to capture larger prey. Weaver ants are being formidable predators with strong mandibles and the ability to spray formic acid. When encountering an ant, they are attacking, biting, and dismembering their victim. Here, a slender ant (Tetraponera) is being attacked and held with bites on every part of its body by a group of Weaver ants (Oecophylla smaragdina) in a forest in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on June 6, 2025.
