Golden Jackal (Canis aureus) is sleeping on a drain - Environmental Conservation - Climate Change

A golden jackal (Canis aureus) has come to the locality next to the forest and is lying on a drain running alongside a tubewell in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on 18/07/2025. The jackal's sleeping face looks like it's dreaming. It has woken up and is looking in all directions with alert eyes. A sleeping jackal in a neighbourhood can be a dangerous situation, as jackals are wild, opportunistic predators that may attack humans, especially if they feel provoked or threatened. During the day, jackals seek shelter in holes, among ruins, or in dense vegetation to hide from predators or the heat. A drain could offer a similar refuge, providing a cooler spot to rest.
