The black-kneed conehead (Conocephalus melaenus) is a medium-sized katydid found in grasses and shrubs across China, Taiwan, Japan, Nepal, India, Indo-China, and western Malesia. This small green insect has long antennae and distinctive black knees. It is feeding on various plant materials, organic debris, and small insects. A black-kneed conehead is being observed jumping on a leaf in a forest in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on August 3, 2025.
