The ICC is displaying the official logo sign and inscription of the International Criminal Court, an intergovernmental organization and international tribunal, in The Hague, Netherlands, on July 15, 2025. The ICC is the first and only permanent international court with jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. It is intended to complement, not replace, national judicial systems, and it can exercise its jurisdiction only when national courts are unwilling or unable to prosecute criminals. The ICC is distinct from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), an organ of the United Nations that hears disputes between states.
