Security personnel are keeping vigil following a wave of violence allegedly triggered by rumors, in West Karbi Anglong, Assam, India, on December 23, 2025. The clash is breaking out after a group, including women and children whose shops were burnt by a mob on Monday, is coming out to protest against the initial violence. Meanwhile, agitators demanding the eviction of encroachers from the tribal belt are also gathering in the Kheroni Market area. Director General of Police Harmeet Singh is present on the ground, taking stock of the situation and patrolling the streets in an attempt to calm tempers.
