Clashes broke out in central Dhaka on 6 February 2026 between Inqilab Moncho activists and police during a protest march demanding justice for their slain leader. Demonstrators attempted to advance toward the State Guest House Jamuna but were stopped by barricades near the InterContinental and Shahbagh areas. When protesters tried to push through, police used batons, tear gas, sound grenades, and water cannons to disperse the crowd. Activists reportedly threw bricks in response. Dozens of people, including officers, were injured and taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. The unrest heightened tensions ahead of the 12 February national election next week.
