February 18, 2026, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India: Smoke and flames rise from a residential house in the Lal Bazar area after a fire broke out in Srinagar. According to official data, Jammu and Kashmir recorded 6,752 fire calls in 2024, including 42 false alarms. During the year, 2,938 buildings were affected by fires, while property worth approximately Rs 1,699 crore was saved. Most incidents were attributed to LPG leakages, electrical overloads, short circuits, and the increased use of heating appliances.
