Ukrainians in Poland mark 4th anniversary of Russian invasion

Hundreds of people gather at the Royal Castle Square in Warsaw, Poland, on February 24, 2026, to mark the 4th anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The event sees mostly Ukrainian citizens in attendance, with the mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, and several European ambassadors speaking in support of Ukraine's efforts to defend against ongoing Russian aggression and reiterating Europe's long-term backing. Since the start of the conflict in 2022, close to 7 million Ukrainians have been displaced, leading to the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. German ambassador to Poland, Miquel Berger, states, "We know how hard it has been the last four years, the suffering, the losses, the terror against the civilian population, the cold, the attacks against the energy infrastructure. But let me say we are all here to show we stand with Ukraine and we will continue to support Ukraine as long as it's needed."
