Aedes mosquitoes, particularly Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus, feed on humans in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on October 23, 2025. These mosquitoes exhibit aggressive biting behavior towards humans and prefer to live in close proximity to people and animals. They require blood to produce eggs, and after feeding, female mosquitoes seek water sources to lay their eggs. Aedes mosquitoes are known vectors for several viruses, including the yellow fever virus, dengue virus, West Nile virus, chikungunya virus, and Zika virus. During their flight, some of these mosquitoes become trapped in spider webs, which are natural pest controllers, and subsequently die.
